9 Days Uganda-Rwanda & Bujumbura Safari

This 9 Days Uganda-Rwanda & Bujumbura Safari will take you to three destinations with different activities and attractions to enjoy. You will start you safari with Murchison falls national park which is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area. While here, you will have a walk at the top of the falls, go for game drives as well as a boat cruise at the Victoria Nile. Afterwards, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a home to mountain gorillas as well as other mammal species and over 346 bird species. Then to continue to Rwanda where you will do a city tour in Kigali and later conclude your safari to Bujumbura for a city tour.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon your arrival, you will be picked by one of our drivers who will transfer you direct to your booked accommodation in Entebbe where you will check in your lodge. Depending on your time of arrival, you can decide to have a city tour around Entebbe or relax in your lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park-Top of the falls-Evening game drive

After your morning breakfast, you will start your journey to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover in Masindi town for lunch. Murchison Falls National Park is basically famous for its strongest waterfalls and different wildlife species. Upon arrival, you will drive straight to the top of the falls and here you will have views of the Nile. Actually, the Nile squeezes through a canyon and plunges over a 45-metre cliff with a thunderous roar into the devil’s cauldron. While here, feel free to take photos and videos to take back home for remembrance. Later, check in your lodge and freshen up as you prepare for an evening game drive.

In the evening, go for a game drive across the savannah, following different tracks in the park. As a matter of fact, what you will see, sense and feel around cannot be replicated anywhere else in the World. During this game drive, you will be able to spot different animals like Lions, elephants, hippos. Buffalos, warthogs, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, spotted hyenas, giraffes, jackals, etc. Depending on your lucky day, you can even sport leopards and while here also expect to take photos and videos as you enjoy the wildlife and its nature.

Day 3: Morning game drive- Boat cruise

Have your breakfast, then head out for a morning game drive and it will be a great time as you look out for various animal species. These include; buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, lions, oribis, Jackson’s hartebeest, spotted hyenas, etc. Also expect to come across a number of bird species like the hornbills, oxpeckers, bishops, swallows, etc. After the game drive, you will be driven direct to the dock in preparation for an afternoon boat cruise.

Later, set off for your boat adventure and while on the cruise, you will be able to view different water animals. These include; the crocodiles, hippos and some animals at the banks of the river as they quench their thirst; like elephants and water bucks. Also expect to spot different bird species like the red-throated bee-eaters, kingfishers, martial eagles, etc. Feel free to take photos and videos as you enjoy the wildlife on water. The boat ride will take you to the bottom of the Falls and when you reach here you will be able to see clearly the mighty waterfalls. However, don’t forget to pack some snacks and drinks to enjoy while on this 3-hour adventurous boat cruise. Afterwards, you will check in your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Your will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and later start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is a home to the mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, check in your accommodation as you prepare for the next days’ gorilla experience.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking-Batwa cultural encounter

You will get up early for breakfast, head to the headquarters for a briefing before going for the gorilla trekking activity. You will later hit the forest led by an armed ranger and upon locating one of the gorilla families, you will be given 1 hour in their presence. You will enjoy them do their day-to-day activities. While here, don’t forget to take photos and videos of these wonderful moments. Later, you will head back to the headquarters where you will be awarded a gorilla trekking certificate. Besides, don’t forget to pack some snacks and drinking water since hiking into the forest might take some time. This depends on the location of the gorillas and locating them also depends on where they spent their night.

You will later head back to your lodge for lunch as you prepare for another interesting cultural activity in the evening. In fact, the Batwa were the first people to live in the forest in harmony with the gorillas. Interestingly, these people still exist outside the park, still practicing their cultural norms and listening to their forest stories will leave you with great memories. Feel free to engage in their dances and folk songs, you can also buy some souvenirs to take back home. Later you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali

On this last day of your safari in Uganda, you will wake up early in morning and enjoy your breakfast. Thereafter, transfer to Kigali arriving late evening and check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Kigali city tour-Transfer to Bujumbura

Enjoy your morning breakfast and later visit the Gisozi genocide memorial site. Here, you will picture out the terrifying memories of the 1994 survivors of the most horrific disasters the world has ever known. Here, the Hutu massacred thousands of Tutsi and moderate Hutu in less than 100 days. You can decide to visit the markets or other local craft shops, have lunch and later embark on your journey to Bujumbura. Check in direct to your lodge for the overnight stay.

Day 8: Tour around Bujumbura

Have breakfast, then later tour around Bujumbura city to different memorial sites. Here, you will visit the hero mausoleum and unity monument. You will also explore memorial commemorating the meeting of Livingstone and Stanley and visit the markets around. Later, head back to the lodge.

Day 9: Depart Bujumbura

You will have your breakfast, transfer to Bujumbura International Airport to catch up with your flight back home.
